Abbot Church
We drove out to Lindon, CO to see a 1913 Church that is still in use. The goal was to shoot the Milky Way but the clouds never cleared out. Instead I experimented with using my DJI Drone for Light Painting the church. This image is a composite of a couple images using a drone in a few ways. I set the point of interest and circled the church, I think lowered the drone on top to activate the lower sensor lights. I also shot an image using a flash from behind the church. I brought all of the images in to Photoshop and set the blend mode to lighten so that each layer below would shine through if the pixels (lights) were lighter than the layer above.
We stayed until around 10pm when the sun was fully set and waited for the clouds. They stuck around and the South and SE skies got really full with lots of lightning activity. We decided not to risk it any longer and packed up to head home
The church is easy to get to and you can explore and walk around. The drive is around 90mins easy of Denver/Aurora area and a few dirt roads. The church is open too so you can enter inside and see that its still in use. There is also a cemetery on site in the back right corner. It has 3 tombstones and about a week after we left there was a WWII veteran laid to rest in another marker.
