Great Conjunction
Jupiter and Saturn Aligned in Colorado
The great conjunction occurred here in Colorado on Dec 21, 2022. I was worried about clouds since we had cloudy nights almost every day leading up to it. So I didn’t have much time to practice. Thank goodness on the peak night we had great clear skies. I tried to shoot with a telephoto lens but to prevent a blurry star you have to shoot with a high ISO which makes for a grainy image. So I chose to shoot wide and incorporate this abandoned building.
The image itself is a night time shot with the planets aligned, and one shot from about an hour earlier stacked underneath. With a light mask I brought back more details from the day time image..
